The Pantera Club of Northern California was founded in mid-1973 by a handful of enthusiastic DeTomaso Pantera owners. The club’s first President was Craig Leighty, who was one of the original three directors when the club was formed, along with Ken Levine and Richard Notmeyer. In the early days the club consisted of a loose knit group of about 15 to 20 members who met monthly at Round Table Pizza in the Laurelwood shopping center in San Mateo, California.
In 1975 Ken Levine became club President. At that time membership had dwindled to only 11 members, so he and the other club officers (Richard Notmeyer, Vice President, and Craig Leighty, Secretary & Treasurer) made a concerted effort to restore and revitalized the club by starting a calling campaign to former members and encouraged them to come back and participate in club meetings and events.
In 1976 PCNC was still meeting at Round Table in San Mateo, but decided to move the monthly meetings to Sunnyvale because most of the members were living in the South Bay Area and felt driving to San Mateo for the monthly meetings was too far.
PCNC grew from those humble beginnings and now boasts almost 150 members!
